DTMP provides product development and prototyping services to assist customers in developing newly fabricated products. With a staff of experienced "jack of all trade" fabricators, our Prototype Department handles the design process and planning for items entering the Metal Products facility. Quick turn-around to the customer is a major part of this group’s mission.

Product Development and Prototyping Process

Beginning with part drawings, the Product Development/Prototype Department accomplishes the following:

  • Develop the initial production plans
  • Validate print dimensions
  • Fabricate the product
  • Provide sample parts and concepts
  • Formulate a full-scale manufacturing process
  • Execute the process on a fast timeline

This includes defining high-tolerance manufacturing specifications, along with specs for tooling and measuring equipment. Firms with a need for initial prototypes, choose to become ongoing DTMP customers, because new part development is part of the package.

The Prototype Department has the following machines
at its disposal:

  • Laser
  • Turret
  • Press brake
  • Welder
  • Coordinate Measuring Machines (2)
  • Powder and liquid painting equipment
  • Stamping presses, 60 ton to 1600 ton for die trials
