Manufacturing Engineer

Employees of DTMP are bringing world class metal products to a very competitive market with great success leading the company to grow and gain in customer loyalty.  To join this team the ideal applicant must have a history of excellence at work, high level of vendor and customer satisfaction, effective problem solving and teamwork.  We are in the process of building a Center of Engineering Excellence and have openings for a Manufacturing Engineer as we grow to meet our customer’s demands.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Plan, design, arrange, change, and optimize, a manufacturing process in an effort to achieve customer product and facility metric requirements.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Document, develop, evaluate and improve methods required to stamp, fabricate, weld, wash/paint and assemble parts to meet customer and manufacturer quality requirements
  • .Identify operator methods that improve production rates and efficiencies
  • Develop and implement process control techniques and procedures into manufacturing environments.
  • Analyze manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
  • Collaborate with customer design engineering regarding product tooling and design to ensure effectual production methods.
  • Participate in cross functional teams for timely, effective documented corrective action for internal and external quality issues
  • Confer with suppliers in determining product specifications and arranging equipment, parts, or material purchase, and evaluating products according to quality standards and specifications.
  • Assist in estimating staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data for operational decisions.
  • Work closely with manufacturing department to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees.
  • Design and develop manufacturing processes with the Launch team for enhancements, product changes, and new products, and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation of methods, tool drawings, design concepts, shop orders, and concepts in accordance with engineering and quality requirements.
  • Providing engineering support in production department to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems. 
  • Specify new equipment, tooling, parts and participates in capital equipment budgeting and cost justification
  • Support company policies and procedures, goals and objectives,
  • Support DTMP production system requirements
  • Support initiatives on customer certification programs
  • Assume Project Management responsibility on major new projects as assigned
  • Perform any and all other engineering assignments as directed
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS (PREFERRED):

Specific Experience:  Minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or related field

Formal Education:  

Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing from an accredited college.

Certifications:  
Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel),Interpret drawings, effective problem solving, ability to effectively communicate orally and written

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Vision acuity, corrected or uncorrected, capable of reading documents, blueprints, gauges, equipment settings, calibration instruments, parts labels and written materials and  inspecting fixture set up and work products. Speech and hearing capacity appropriate for frequent person to person and phone based conversations and meetings.
Able to move about weld and fabrication plant with walking and other manufacturing environment hazards. Standing on concrete, tolerance for wearing protective apparel and devices. Working frequently in a hot, noisy environment.

PPE:

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to be worn on production floor at all times: Safety Glasses and hearing protection.
