Welder 2nd Shift

Employees of DTMP are bringing world class metal products to a very competitive market with great success leading the company to grow and gain in customer loyalty.  To join this team the ideal applicant must have a history of excellence at work, high level of vendor and customer satisfaction, effective problem solving and teamwork.  We have openings for Welders as we grow to meet our customer’s demands.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:

Responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to manufacture product to customer drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction.

Specific job responsibilities:

  • Proficient in assigned welding techniques
  • Interpretation of mechanical drawings, including weld requirement symbology
  • Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys, aluminum, and some exotic materials
  • Working knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
  • Conventional and precision measuring instruments
  • Process inspection, certification, and documentation
  • Welding equipment maintenance
  • Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools
  • Safety and Housekeeping
  • Other duties as assigned by the area supervisor

job qualifications: preferred:

Specific Experience:  Six months of GMAW job and/or training experience
Formal Education:   Graduation from an accredited High School or completion of GED program
Certifications:  Must pass unlimited thickness test prior to employment offer. Visual acuity and blueprint reading test must be completed/passed within 30 days of date of hire.

Skills: Proficient in weld techniques, ability to use measuring devices, read blueprints, basic computer skills.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

Vision acuity, corrected or uncorrected, capable of reading documents, blueprints, gauges, equipment settings, calibration instruments, parts labels and written materials and  inspecting fixture set up and work products. Speech and hearing capacity appropriate for frequent person to person and phone based conversations and meetings.

Able to move about weld and fabrication plant with walking and other manufacturing environment hazards.  Frequent reaching with both hands, bending, pushing & pulling loads weighing several hundred pounds, lifting or maneuvering loads of 50 lbs, standing on concrete, tolerance for wearing protective apparel and devices including weld hood , face shield and respirator. Working frequently in a hot, noisy environment.

PPE:

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to be worn on production floor at all times: Hearing protection, safety glasses and steel toe work boots or shoes.
