Plasma Operator 1st Shift

Employees of DTMP are bringing world class metal products to a very competitive market with great success leading the company to grow and gain in customer loyalty.  To join this team the ideal applicant must have a history of excellence at work, high level of vendor and customer satisfaction, effective problem solving and teamwork.  We have openings for an Plasma Operator as we grow to meet our customer’s demands.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:

Sets up and operates numerical control machine to cut metal work pieces to specification.   Also sets up and runs manual machines.

specific job responsibilities:

  • Reviews set up sheets and specifications to determine set up procedures and machine sequence
  • Assembles cutting heads to tool holder and positions in machine as specified
  • Loads control media, machine control console, or enters commands to retrieve machine instructions from data base
  • Manipulates controls and enter commands to index cutting tool
  • Measures piece for conformance to specification using measuring instruments
  • Responsible for proper use of tooling and measurement equipment
  • Grinds out burrs and sharp edges from part
  • Performs daily preventative maintenance on equipment and performs adjustments as required
  • Safety and housekeeping
  • Operate overhead crane to load/unload materials
  • Perform machine adjustments to control part quality based on inspection
  • Perform material and part transactions accurately in computer database
  • Other duties as assigned

job qualifications: preferred:

Specific Experience:  Minimum of 12 months plasma cutting machine experience
Formal Education:  Graduation from an accredited High School or completion of GED program
Certifications:  N/A
Skills: Math and print reading sufficient to set up production process, ability to use measuring and gauging tool, legible handwriting, and basic computer skills


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

Vision acuity, corrected or uncorrected, capable of reading documents, blueprints, gauges, equipment settings, calibration instruments, parts labels and written materials. Speech and hearing capacity appropriate for frequent person to person and phone based conversations and meetings.
Able to move about the plant with walking and other manufacturing environment hazards.  Frequent reaching with both hands, bending, pushing & pulling loads weighing several hundred pounds, lifting or maneuvering loads of 50 lbs, standing on concrete, tolerance for wearing protective apparel and devices. Working frequently in a hot, noisy environment.

Ppe:

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to be worn on production floor at all times: Hearing protection, safety glasses and steel toe work boots or shoes.
