HSE Officer

We have an opening for a HSE Officer as we grow to meet our customer’s demands.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:
Responsible for managing all aspects of environmental, health and safety, and regulatory compliance.
SpECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in objective setting, plan development, and performance review of the plant.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and permits under OSHA (including PSM), EPA, DENR, TTB, FRA, and any other non-financial regulating body.
- Ensure all plant modifications receive appropriate permitting approval in timely manner to support construction schedule and all plant/system changes are managed through plant Management of Change (MOC) procedure.
- Provide training systems that promote ever increasing standards for safe work execution and plant improvement.
- Maintain positive, proactive relationships with all regulatory contacts.
- Provide safety training to all employees and provide continuous efforts to increase safety awareness and improve work environment.
- Maintain a leadership presence on the plant floor, influence employees and supervisor behaviors, and fully engage employees in the safety process.
- Complete thorough investigations of any work accidents and near misses.
- Responsible for filing any claims with insurance carrier in a timely manner and working with the carrier on each claim.
- Responsible for advising the leadership team on all aspects of the environmental requirements and responsibilities.
- Implement, refine and maintain written work instructions for environmental procedures consistent with the ISO 140001 international EMS standard.
- Responsible for completion and filing of all environmental related reports with appropriate agencies.

job qualifications:
Specific experience: 3+ years experience in HSE related position
Formal education: Bachelors Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental health or related field.
Certifications:
Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with writing procedures, providing training sessions and environmental auditing.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
- Vision acuity, corrected or uncorrected, capable of reading documents, computer screens, etc.
- Speech and hearing capacity appropriate for frequent person to person and phone based conversations and meetings.
- Able to move about weld and fabrication plant with walking and other manufacturing environment hazards.
