Certified Weld Inspector

Employees of DTMP are bringing world class metal products to a very competitive market with great success leading the company to grow and gain in customer loyalty.  To join this team the ideal applicant must have a history of excellence at work, high level of vendor and customer satisfaction, effective problem solving and teamwork.  We are in the process of building a Center of Engineering Excellence and have openings for a Certified Weld Inspector as we grow to meet our customer’s demands.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:

Train and maintain qualified welders to appropriate standards for quality assurance.

KEY PARTS OF POSITION:

  • Review and interpret specifications / procedures
  • Participate in design and process reviews
  • Develop and maintain PQR, WPS, PPS
  • Aid in selection of welding personnel and equipment
  • Develop and administer initial training and ongoing education of welding personnel
  • Qualify welders to appropriate standards
  • Monitor welding equipment PM
  • Conduct Technical Weld LPA (Process and Operator Technique Audits)
  • Perform inspections of welding processes and products
  • Conduct audits of suppliers providing materials and services to the project and ensure that the work performed and the records maintained conform to the requirements of the applicable standards and other contract documents

qualifications FOR POSITION:

  • Communicate effectively orally and written
  • Ability to effectively prepare reports
  • Understand the fundamentals of SMAW, SAW, OFW, RW, GTAW, FCAW, GMAW, PAW, SW, ESW and Thermal Spraying, Soldering, Mechanical Cutting, Thermal Cutting/Gouging, Brazing/Braze Welding
  • Understand the fundamentals of VT, MT, AET, UT, PT, ET, RT, LT, quality procedures and quality audits/surveillance
  • Understand the fundamentals of welding metallurgy
  • Understand welding symbols and drawings
  • Interpret drawings


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

  • Tolerance to work in a hot environment where some fumes are apparent
  • Ability to wear a respirator
  • Must be able to lift weights up to 50 #
  • Compatibility to use protective equipment, including safety shoes, glasses, and hearing protection, and leather apparel.
  • Must be able to stand on concrete floors and bend frequently.
